Kaleb Wilkening
MUSIC DIRECTOR, VOCAL COACH, AND COLLABORATIVE PIANIST
Kaleb Wilkening is a frequently sought after Music Director, Vocal Coach, and Collaborative Pianist based in NYC. In 2022 Kaleb earned his Bachelor in Music, Piano Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he studied performance with Dr. Paul Barnes and Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Brenda Wristen. While at UNL, Kaleb studied organ with Dr. Christopher Marks and Brent Shaw.
As a pianist, Kaleb has performed in recitals and festivals across the USA and Europe, including performances in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. His work as a collaborator has led to performances with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, UNL Symphony Orchestra, the Glenn Korff School of Music, Lincoln Public Schools, and the Lied Center for Performing Arts. During his time at UNL, Kaleb accompanied both voice and instrumental lessons, juries, and recitals for both graduate and undergraduate students. Kaleb frequently accompanied masterclasses for guest artists at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. As a masterclass accompanist he has worked with artists such as American Ballet Theater (ABT), Chris Botti, Keith Lockhart, and the Midtown Men.
As a music director, Kaleb has worked with performers of all ages. He has worked with Broadway professionals and directed productions at the Lincoln Community Playhouse (LCP), Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU), Beatrice Community Players (BCP), the Johnny Carson School of Theater and Film, Black Hills Community Theater (BHCT), and multiple other performing arts organizations across Nebraska and South Dakota. Kaleb has received Broadway World Omaha nominations for Best Music Direction and Orchestra performance for Anastasia (LCP), Fiddler on the Roof (LCP), Godspell (BCP), and Come From Away (LCP). Kaleb was honored with the award for Best Musical Direction and Orchestra Performance for his work in Cabaret at LCP.
Kaleb is the collaborative pianist, music director, and vocal coach. for the Lied Center Triple Threat Summer Intensive in Lincoln, NE. This intensive brings industry professionals to teach workshops with 40+ high school students. Guest artists include Ryan Scott Oliver, Jessie Hooker-Bailey, Jason Michael Webb, Alicia Olatuja, Q Smith, Reagan Kennedy, and Katie Pohlman.
One of Kaleb’s most notable projects was as vocal director for RENT in Concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts directed by Sammi Cannold. This production brought together a talented cast of local Nebraska actors and Tony-nominated performers to perform the score with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.
Kaleb currently is the organist at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Forest Hills, Queens. He is a pianist with Ballet Academy East (BAE). Kaleb enjoys running, reading, and annoying his two cats Koda and Suki.
